The counts are how many resources exist for that category item given the other selections. E.g. If you select Listeria monocytoneses in the Organism category and Beef in the Food category, and leave the others set to Any, then the count in the Organism list will be all records that relate to Beef, while the count in the Food list will be all resources that relate to Listeria monocytogenes. The counts for state, source and resource type would be all resources related to both Listeria monocytogenes and Beef. Note: when you select a particular item, e.g. Lm, the count will also include any resource marked as "non-specific"
